When Dreams Are Put on Hold
For Franck Faombo, growing up in Kisangani in the Democratic Republic of Congo, education was not just a dream, it was a calling. But after losing both of his parents, his dream of becoming a doctor was put on hold. Though he graduated from high school in 2010 and enrolled in university, financial hardship brought his studies to a halt in his third year.
With no one to turn to, Franck found himself taking small jobs just to afford food. His dream of finishing medical school seemed to slip further away with each passing day.
A Chance Encounter That Changed Everything
One day, while doing odd jobs in the streets of Kisangani, Franck met a member of A Child a Future during their outreach visit to the region. What began as a simple conversation became a turning point in his life.
“I was just trying to survive,” Franck says. “But they took time to talk with me, to listen. I shared my story — and they saw something in me I thought the world had forgotten.”
Moved by his determination and heart, A Child a Future, a Christian nonprofit dedicated to supporting underprivileged students, stepped in to sponsor the remainder of his education.
Franck was able to resume his medical studies tuition, materials, and living costs fully covered. Today, he is confidently walking the path to becoming a doctor.
On the Brink of a Lifelong Dream
Now in his fourth year of medical school, and an intern at the hospital in his community; Franck is just 14 months away from graduation.
“I never imagined this day would come,” he shares. “For me, A Child a Future became the answer to prayers I had stopped praying. I thank the Lord Jesus Christ for His mercy. This was only possible through Him.”
Beyond achieving his own goals, Franck dreams of giving back. He hopes to care for his community, provide for a future family, and be a testimony to what God can do through faith and compassion.
